My Background & Credentials

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed in the state of California. I earned my doctorate from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. I have extensive training in working with individual adults, children, adolescents and couples.

I work through a psychodynamic, or insight oriented, perspective by helping people look within themselves to identify unhealthy patterns and potential conflicts that can hinder a robust self. As difficulties are uncovered, the healing process can begin through self-understanding, awareness and self-fulfillment.

The psychotherapy relationship can provide a supportive and non-critical environment in which it feels safe to explore your thoughts and feelings, to gain understanding about yourself and your patterns, and to develop new ways of coping with problems and relating to others.

I maintain offices in Oakland, San Francisco and Larkspur. For more than fifteen years I have been helping clients work through the following complex concerns:

  • Relationship difficulties - communication, conflict, disappointment, frustration
  • Major life transitions - divorce/breakup, change of job or career, entering college, graduation, marriage
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Depression
  • Lack of satisfaction and enjoyment of one's life
  • Blocked creativity
  • Eating disorders, including bariatric issues
  • Career struggles
  • Identity issues
  • Addiction
  • Trauma
  • Loss and grief - breakups, death of a loved one, loss of health
  • Health and geriatric issues - long-term illness, aging, dementia
